Windows, Linux, the future

Continuing Fedora 8, KDE4, GNOME Remote Desktop, JeOS, gOS, Android boom. Where should Windows 7 go.

Ideal as remote desktops are, I suddenly realised the difficulty. With existent operating systems and servers, remote operation should be no problem. The problem however, should lay at how to make the window operations possible. You need a 128MB+ RAM to at least make windows theme in windows XP work, a 128MB is not ideal to run Aero in Windows Vista, imagine what kind of internet speed do you need to enable the least desktop effects you would expect. That's why google's only offering google documents and spread sheets where you have only relatively a stable desktop environment.

That's just my speculation and I suppose without this difficulty, the companies should be more than happy to offer everyone and let everyone see their promising remote desktop, I mean a "real" remote computer, not just some panels or desktop settings.

Linux has gained much attention in the handheld world. It's great news for Linux and when we think about the victory, it is kind of understandable. The most annyoing thing about Linux is you can't just use it. A large percentage of my traffic in the blog is in seek of help making things work. It's sometimes just a little command or change, but it drives me nuts too even though I know there's a way to make it work. So the Achilles heel of Linux is really its inability to work-out-of-the-box. In the mobile market however, companies have chosen to make their hardwares work for Linux, whence the Linux' boom.
